Cracking time at Pevensey, just down the road from where the lardy arse kit breakers were. First outing for my new windsurfing charriot, which despite its small and girl-like appearance, did the job admirably. Arrived to find lots of very cold and uninspired locals and so I initially thought it was a good old weekend skunking. But it felt windy and so I decided on a 5.7 to be safe. As soon as I made that choice, a couple of boards launched upwind of us and their sails looked much smaller, so a couple of minutes dithering and then I carried on with the 5.7 plan. It was the perfect choice. I rigged it flat when I first went out and braced myself for something more nuclear, but it was pretty much ok. I came in to bag it out a notch and then spent the rest of the morning having a ball in the onshore conditions. The waves got much bigger as the tide dropped, but the big ones shifted about on just about every run, so I worked out it was best to stay a way out and then swoop on the big stuff when you spotted it. Quite fun being able to ride them both ways, although I'm not particularly experienced in directly onshore stuff, so there were a couple of interesting dismounts - one of which was about half of a port tack loop, which felt a little disturbing. Great fun, not too cold and nice to see everyone again even if most shivered it out on the beach - well done Krafty for keeping me company. 4 or 5 of us out at the car park, then a couple more across towards Eastbourne and a load of kites in between - all of whom were very smiley. We even had Carl and his mate out on Jetskis, so it was almost a summertime population out there. Glad I made the effort.
